What Is This Tool?

A GPA (Grade Point Average) calculator converts your course grades and credit hours into a single weighted average that represents your overall academic performance. On the US 4.0 scale, each letter grade maps to a numeric value: A = 4.0, B = 3.0, C = 2.0, D = 1.0, F = 0.0. Each course's grade value is multiplied by its credit hours, and the sum is divided by total credits, giving greater weight to courses with more credit hours. This calculator also supports the Portuguese and Brazilian 0–20 scale and the Spanish and Latin American 0–10 scale.

Why It Matters

GPA is one of the most consequential numbers in a student's academic career. Most universities require a minimum GPA (often 2.0) to remain in good standing, and many competitive programmes require 3.0 or higher. Scholarship committees, graduate admissions panels, and employers frequently use GPA during candidate reviews. Understanding your exact standing (and how each course affects your cumulative average) empowers you to make strategic study decisions.

Academic Tip
Because GPA is credit-weighted, high-credit courses have an outsized impact on your average. If you are balancing coursework, prioritise high-credit core subjects: earning strong grades in 4-credit courses is the most efficient way to protect and raise your cumulative GPA.
